My first FP was done in July 2007. I have not yet received second FP notice. Normally USCIS sends second FP notice after 15 months. Is someone else like me?

You should be fine. Not only you filed your extension on time (so the approval should apply retroactively, more likely that's the USCIS mistake), but two law provisions protect you:
1) 8 C.F.R. section 274A.12(b)(20) - An H1B holder whose employer has filed a new H1B petition to extend the stay (through the current employer - NOT a job change) can work for up to 240 days based upon the pending H1B petition;
2) 8 U.S.C. 1255(k) allows you to adjust status even if you worked without authorization for not more than 180 days.
Oh, yes, I've had a similar RFE for my dependants to show continuous H4 status so it's not unusual.

With out a GC, you may not get the best rate. But you sure can get a mortgage loan while in H1/EAD.

Me and my wife are planning to buy a home, we are in 485 stage and both are working and have EAD. Do you think there can be issues for getting a joint loan on EAD ? I still have my H1, but my wife never had an H1 before, so she is working on EAD. Do lenders consider EADs for mortgages ? Did you have any issues with this ?

Unless of course you are an illegal maid from El Salvador, in which case you can apply for your green card in person at any USCIS window by 9 am, and pick up your green card by 4 pm the same day. You have the option of premium processing, where if you pay $5 extra, you get along with your green card a U.S. passport, voters regsitration card, perpetual drivers license and a pack of "Hershey's Kisses" (or an actual kiss from the USCIS officer, your choice)

They will have to apply at the consulate wherever they came from and undergo an interview to get the visa put in their passport. Then they can enter with that visa in place. If their entry is on record which it could well be a flag may be raised as to the reason for their recent entry on the visa waiver program.
Are interviews instant or do you typically have to wait for a date? A petition approval is not an approval to work, correct? Sorry, I am just learning the process. Is there a link on here that shows how it should be done?
BTW, this person was here on an L1 for another company up until December 07 in US, went home for vacation for a month, sent in paperwork for L1A under new company since current visa lapsed, came back early to US on VW(green form) and then waited here for his new L1 petition to approve - while working. He thinks that this is ok. :eek:

I have done this myself and got approval couple of months back. There is no real risk of interfiling. Your eb2 application will for all practical purposes will be like a regular application ( years of exp till date, exp etc)

I did not see any updates on my I140 but just the update on my already approved H1b case.
If my employer has decided to revoke my I140, would i be able to find out , incase he doesn't inform me?

I do not think that you have any issues to work on W2 with an end client or with any other consulting company. Since you have completed six months period with your present employer, who supported to file GC , from the date filing I 485, there should not be any issues at all. Also filing AC21 is optional. If you are on bench your first option should be to find a project ASAP.

There is one more option. Calculate all the time you are out of US over the past 5 years and sum them up.
Eg., If you are 5 months out of country, then you can recapture those 5 months and add it to your 6th year limit. In which case you may fall in the category of applying your Labor before start of 6th. Your Lawyer should be aware of this. I know one person who did this successfully.
The other option is take 3 or 4 months off (out of country) and recapture if necessary.
Good Luck.

I used to commute across the border from Canada to work(on h1b) between 2004 and 2006. My passport was stamped just the first time and never after that.
In 2006 we moved to US by road and started living here. Haven't left States since then. Our passports were checked as usual but not stamped at the border although the U-Haul I was driving was inspected and our luggage and other stuff was inspected too.
Now I have received a RFE from USCIS on our pending I- 485's that were filed last August. They want us to prove that our last date of entry was indeed what we have entered in the I-485 form.
Any suggestions on how to respond to this RFE.

i called the bank too and they cant read the check neither..i can see a number starting with ent only....where in the checkexactly do we look for the receipt number.
