Hi All,
Q1) I would like to take a US consulate appointment for visitor's visa for my father. We are from southern Andhra Pradesh and Chennai consulate is convenient for us. Since Hyderabad has US consulate, does whole of Andhra come under HYD consulate jurisdiction? or can we take appointment in Chennai Consulate? Could you please let me know? My father is going for visa for the first time.
Q2) If visitor passport is expiring in next eight months and if the visitor is residing in US, is it possible to renew the passport here? Or the person has to go back to India and renew the passport there. I would just like to help my parents with the paper work and get it done if possible when they are here.

As Silverlight is a browser side technology, you would have no problem serving Silverlight content from our servers as long as you add the proper MIME type settings to the site via .htaccess rules such as:
AddType application/xaml+xml .xaml
AddType application/x-silverlight-app .xap
AddType application/x-ms-xbap .xbap
HTTP responses have a "content-type" as apart of their header.

It is advised to set the content type appropriately when you serve a file from your webserver by modiftying your htaccess file. To be honest, you can get away without setting this for all the popular browsers from my experience, but it might affect caching or obscure browsers negatively. I like both, initially perhaps the color version a bit more. If you can touch up the slight red-eye problem. The faded border works better with the b&w though, so all in all I'd finally go with the b&w. Cute girls!

I had the same problem last year. I gave up..
I opened Service requests and was told will get a new EAD for 2 years 3 different times and was told to wait for 45 days each time!!!
Finally it was time to apply for a new EAD and I hope to get one for 2 years this time around!

NO insurance company will cover the medical examination for immigration and this is true. Medical cost may vary.

If I file my I-485 during the next 2 weeks and assuming the super number of filings, what is an approximate date for fingerprinting. My wife has to visit India for her sister's marriage in Oct-Nov time frame.

I am a UK citizen brought up in India. I am in US now working on H1-B. Since I plan to return to India after few years for good, I decided to apply for OCI(overseas citizens of India)/dual citizenship of India.
I will have to apply for green card after few years to maintain my employee status here in USA.
Now, the question is, will I get privilege if I am UK citizen compared to dual citizen of India when I apply for US green card?
If I get any privilege(like quicker processing time, etc) I will just get a visitor's visa/PIO card of India for now.
Please advice. I am really confused. Thank you.

I have a question. I am on H1 and are planning to extend my H1 along with my wife H4. My question is, we both have EAD's and I never use EAD. My wife is looking for jobs on EAD. If she works on EAD, can she still able to extend H4 status?

As long as she does not work, and she has entered the country using her H4 (as against entering using Advance Parole), she is on H4. Once she uses her EAD, she is no longer on H4. Subsequent US entries will need to be on Advance Parole.

My h1 is valid till march 2010.. but the i-94 i have is expiring in Oct.. (i changed my job ..and had been out of US..on the old stamping..)
Can iget it extended staying in US? or do i have to leave get it restamped in desh.. ?
Is it illegal to stay on expired i-94..but witha valid H1?????????
what are my options..

started following IV after my friend told me about it. got some useful info and really admire the time members put to answer queries. this is my post and I hope I get some info here. my hubby is looking to relocate to south FL so we both can live and work in same place. he did get couple offers - one from a insurance firm and another from a software company - Citrix. looks like first one will only do EB-3 although the position requires 5+ years exp. does anyone know if Citrix does GC under EB-2 ?

Yesterday I booked a visa appointment at the Mumbai consulate and no where on any of the forms did I specify that I was from Maharashtra but the appointment letter that comes out at the very end says in bold "State of Residence: Maharashtra" which is wrong.
I also canceled the appointment and re-booked it with the same outcome.
Has anybody had this happen to their case? Just trying to gauge how concerned should I get about this. Everything else on the forms looks correct but this one little thing.

I am in the same situation.I was told by my lawyer that if company A didnt cancel the H1b and as long as u have a valid and unexpired h1b with company A u dont need to retransfer to company A

i have a valid H1 visa on my passport till 14th dec 2007. yesterday i got the new I-797 with I-94(I-94 dates are mentioned as 15th Dec 2007 to 14th Dec 2010). Since my visa is expiring on 14th Dec 2007, I want to go for stamping before Dec 2007 to Nogales (i have some travel plans in Jan 2008). When can i go for(how soon) stamping. I am planning to go this sept. CAn I ?????
