Thanks. So how can I find out more about what exactly got updated? On the USICS site, it shows that my AOS was updated in Dec 2007, but nowhere does it report what kind of update it was. Any thoughts?

I am a question regarding h1b stamp.
I am working for a company (A) and I have visa stamp for company A until Dec 2010. I am planning to switch to company B soon. I was wondering if I need another visa stamp with company B or the same stamp will do. I am planning to visit India in February.

As for as my memory goes, you dont need to get a visa stamp till Dec 2010. However, when you reenter USA, you need to show the current company's I797 at the port of entry.

I had recently applied for my 5 yr old son for passport renewal at washington DC embassy, as we fall under their jurisdiction and got the new passport.
I had mailed all the documents and it took around 1 months to get the passport.

I-140 doesn't belong to the employee. Period.
Then ownership of I-140 needs to change as well. Maybe this is something we could all work in the long term.... and not an immediate goal at this time. Of'course this will need help from everybody on the forums. Something like this is sure to help all of us.

Hi,
In anticipation of birth certificate RFE, i have BC affidavits (from parents and relatives) and NAC ready to submit it will be requested. However, my priority date is not current and god knows, when it will be current.....My question is: Is there a validity period for these BC affidavits and NAC documents? It is almost one year since these documents are made ready and I was wondering if these documents lose their validity one year after the signed date on them?
Please suggest

Let us say someone has changed employers after 180 days of 485 application and has no plans to invoke AC21(which is optional) .
1)What is the process to switch attorneys(from Attorney A to Attorney B)?
OR alternatively
2)If we don't want to choose a new attorney, but want all the communictation(such as RFE to come to you), What is the process ?
I read somewhere that you can do this by filing a new G-28, but not sure of the step by step process and the documentation needed.
Appreciate as much details as possible from someone who did this.

I just called USCIS to check the status of my case and the Immigration Officer said it is in EB-1 category. I know my case is EB-2.
I asked the IO to see if i have send any paperwork to rectify their mistake, but she said USCIS will automatically adjust the category whe it picks up the case for review
I am confused. Please Advice

tanyas_21: Amendment processing time is same as normal H1 processing time. Your status is H4 until the H1B amendment (797 w/ I-94) is approved or You re-enter USA after you get your H1B stamped. USCIS usually sends cable to home consulate mentioned in I-129 about the approval of H1B - It is one of the reason, most of the attorneys' recommend people to get it stamped from home consulate. As long as you go with all the paper work, You can get it stamped from Mexico, and I dont see any issues. Do not attempt to get it stamped from Canada unless you have a verifiable US education. Remember to point it out at FP, and they will also ask you to phone USCIS and correct it. You could phone USCIS first, and then you might find that FP has it already corrected in the computer.
Once USCIS update it they will send you a letter to say that they made a change to the file, this is just FYI.
My wife's DoB had a typo. It was spotted at FP office.
Of course I am assuming some obvious typo, not a FP notice for Jim Smith and your name is Ramkrishnan Singh. :-)

I'm in kind of a tricky situation.
I currently work for a consulting company who is sponsoring my GC.Our client has offered me a full time position and I was planning to use AC21 to switch over but better sense prevailed over me to continue with my current employer to avoid any issues in GC processing.Now my client is not willing to extend my contract.Given the current job market, I think it might take atleast a month or two for my employer to find me another project.
Just in case my I485 gets approved, can anyone please let me know if it is ok to be without pay (employer will not pay between projects) after the GC gets approved?Please advise.

Simply going by the voting standpoint, I think between now and 08 elections, politicians will have little incentive do anything about our case (i.e., legal immigration) realistically. I'm not sure whether we represent a % of voter population that's high enough for them to place our case on their priority list. Moreover, giving us GC now will probably benefit them (in terms of votes) at least after 5.5 years once the GC holders are citizens and hence able to vote.
Just my thought for what its worth.
